Have you ever heard the quote, it takes a village to raise a child. Well, I can honestly say that it is true. It does take a village to raise a child nowadays. This episode is going to be about all the feels and good vibes the people in our village send to both us and our children.
I am so excited for this episode because it wasn’t until I had my daughter that I realized how great our village is. The people in my family’s life that make up our village have shown true love, support, and compassion for our little one since the very first day.
Member Number One
First up, let’s talk about the most important people in our village: the grandparents. They play a huge role in our village personally. There are some times when I feel guilty because we depend on them so much since my husband’s parents passed away a long time ago.
Grandparents are the ones we turn to first when we need someone to watch our children so we can run errands, go on dates, or to appointments. This school year, my dad has agreed to watch Aria some days during the week. We call it Papaw Preschool. Aria loves it. She gets to pack a lunch like mommy and we all know there is only one rule at the grandparents: have fun.
My husband and I literally don’t know what we would do without them. So, if you’re listening Mimmie and Papaw we love you!
Village Member Number Two
The next important village member would be extended family members. What would we do without the additional support in conjunction with the grandparents. If we need someone as a backup, they are always there.
Our extended family never forgets to send Aria birthday messages, cards, all kinds of things. They also make sure to come to every event we have for her and just make sure she knows she is super loved.
Member Number Three
This one is for the friends that become family, so much so that they become Aria’s adopted aunts, uncles, cousins. These people are always there when you need them. You may not have them watch your children as much as the grandparents, but they are more involved when the extended family members can’t be.
In our village, we have some of the best adopted family (friends) ever. They are some of the most caring, kind, and compassionate people we have ever met. I truly do not know what we would do without them either.
Village Member Number Four -Teachers
As a teacher, I don’t have to tell you how important they are. But teachers of any kind, whether they are daycare, preschool, public school, private school are so valuable to our kids.
They have the patience of saints and know how to reach our kiddos the best way possible to help them learn and succeed. Aria has the best daycare teachers around and I am forever thankful for them. This year she will also have the best papaw as a teacher too.
Member Number Five – Neighbors
Now, I can’t speak for everyone but living in a small town definitely has some perks. In our town, our neighbors become more like family. We are invited to their parties and cookouts and so on.
Aria has fun playing with the kids and we get to enjoy some adult conversation for once. There is no complaining or bickering, it is just good ole fashion neighbor fun.
Village Member Number Six – Family Friends
So my parents have lots of friends in our hometown from car dealers, bank tellers, business owners, and so on. Lots of times we will be out with Aria or by ourselves and one of my parents’ friends will stop to chat. Not so much anymore, but you get the picture.
It was such an awesome feeling to know that we have so many people in our corner and who care about Aria and our little family. It definitely warms your heart on days when you need it the most.
I am beyond thankful for the people in our village. We definitely could not do everything without each and every one of them. As you go through today, think about all the people who are in your village. Reach out to them, send them a note of thanks, or just say a silent prayer for them. Your village is amazing and so are you. So, this is me making it official and sending a giant thanks to all the people near and far who make up our village. You guys rock!
